KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR
VICTIM DIES IN HASTINGS HOSPITAL DRIVER OF VEHICLE SOUGHT BY POLICE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, October 21. Seriously injured as a result of being knocked down in Omahu Road, Fernhill, last night, by a motorist who did not stop, Mr Lambert Emanuel Berggren died in Hastings Memorial Hospital this afternoon. Police inquiries have so far failed to locate the driver of the car. Mr Berggren was a retired engineer 62 years of age and, till two years ago, he was managed of the Fernhill Lime Works, which were owned by himself and his son, Mr T. Berggren. He came to Christchurch from Sweden as a young man and has resided at Hastings for the past 14 years. He leaves a wife, three sons, Messrs T„ L. A., and M. V. Berggren, and two daughters, Misses Dorothy and Elva Berggren.
