INTERESTING JUDGMENT
ADMISSION OF BARRISTERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An interesting s judgment affecting solicitors employed by the Public Trust Office securing admission as barristers was delivered by the Appeal Court today in the case in re Clay, heard on October 7. In delivering judgment in Clay’s application, the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers said the legislature had not prescribed the standard of experience, necessary but had left it to the Court, which must in each case consider the nature of the work done by each applicant and therefore no rigid rule could be laid down. In his opin'ion, Clay’s experience was not sufficient to entitle him to admission as a barrister and his application would be refused. Other members of the Court were also of opinion that applicant’s experience was not sufficiently extensive.
