TILL LAST LOYALIST HAS LEFT STAND BY SPANISH LOYALISTS. HOPES OF BEATING FRANCO. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. LONDON, October 21. The Spanish Embassy reiterates that the loyalists will not mediate and will not negotiate until the last foreign volunteer has left Spain. It adds that the- loyalists are optimistic regarding the course of the war since General Franco s army is swiftly disappearing in the intense Ebro struggle, where he lost 80,000 men and a large proportion of his officers who cannot be replaced, while the loyalists’ losses have not exceeded 40.000.
General Franco has not made any headway, it is claimed, despite the dropping of £15,000,000 worth of shells. BOMBS ON BARCELONA. TWENTY-FOUR KILLED & 70 WOUNDED.
