LAMB MARKET SLIGHTLY EASIER Lamb market: Slightly easier on the | continued heavy supplies of Home-kill-I ed. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, weaker owing to heavier supplies and poor demand. Beef market: Frozen beef, meeting with good demand at the higher prices. Chilled beef, prices firmer on the lighter supplies. New Zealand porker pigs: Light and medium weights unchanged; heavy weights, slightly easier. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. Boneless bobby veal: New season’s arrivals meeting with steady demand, with prices unchanged. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. North Island ewes, under 481bs, 3.1 d; 48/561bs, 27-8 d; 56/641bs, 27-8 d; 64/721bs, 23d. Compared with last week’s quotations, crossbred lamb ‘ 28/361bs and second quality lamb l-8d per lb lower. Wethers u/481bs and 56/641bs, Id per lb lower; 48/561bs and 64/721bs, l-8d per lb lower. Ewes l-8d per lb lower. Others unchanged. The market is quiet and easier all round.
