ALLEGED HOLD=UP
MAN BEFORE THE COURT IN CHRISTCHURCH. REMANDED AND BAIL REFUSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A sequel to an alleged armed holdup at Chaney’s Corner on Tuesday night was heard in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, when Cyril James Martin-Leverson appeared. Martin-Leverson, a storekeeper and mechanic, aged 24, was charged that on October 18, at Christchurch, he robbed Kenneth James Halligan of £24 in money, the property of Motorways, Ltd. Chief-Detective W. H. Dunlop said accused was arrested yesterday and the police desired a remand until October 27.
The Magistrate refused a request for bail.
