TRADE UNIONS
MEMBERSHIP IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) RUGBY, October 20. A Ministry of Labour return of trade union membership at the close of 1937 puts the total for Great Britain and Northern Ireland at 5,851,000, showing an increase of 546,000 or nearly 10 per cent on the membership at the end of 1936. The increase in membership is the largest recorded in any year since 1919.
