WAIRARAPA SHOW
The dairy cattle section as usual will be a very strong feature at the Wairarapa Show at Carterton on Wednesday and Thursday* next. Whilst competition is strong in most sections, the Jersey breed on this occasion will predominate. In the sheep section entries exceed those of the past four years and it will be necessary to erect temporary pens to accommodate the large entry. Competition is good throughout, but particularly strong in natural condition Southdown and Romney Marsh sheep. The lamb section has drawn very large entries and fat sheep and farmers’ classes will provide stronger competition than usual. A pleasing feature is the number of new exhibitors. This year for the first time in the history of the society there will be a number-of Ryeland sheep on exhibition. Mr J. J. Maher, of Mangaroa, is giving additional special prizes of 5s each for exhibitors in the primary and secondary school cooking classes securing the most points, and also prizes of 5s each for the pupil in the primary and secondary school sewing and knitting sections securing the most points.
