Lewis Tortoriella, a New York factory worker, was so jealous of his sweetheart, Wilma Leaycroft, aged 24. that he handcuffed her to the wheel of his car during his working hours. A police patrol, passing the factory, heard Wilma sobbing. The police saw the handcuffs. The girl said: “Lewis is so fond of mo. he’s afraid I might go out with other boys. But I love masterful men." The authorities, however, had the handcuffs sawn through, and warned Lewis.
