JOHNSONVILLE SALE. PRICES EASIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Wright, Stephenson and Company offered at the Johnsonville sale a smaller yarding of cattle than usual, and a larger yarding of sheep. The bullocks comprised chiefly extra weight bullocks with a few pens of light and medium weight sorts. Prime Quality bullocks met with a ready sale, with prices easier than those ruling last week, while light weight and unfinished cattle were down by 10s to 15s a head. The yarding of cows and heifers was exceptionally good, with prices showing an easing tendency for all classes. The wethers yarded were chiefly shorn sheep, with a few pens of woolly. Competition for prime sheep was keen, with prices showing no alteration. Light weight wethers and unfinished sheep were easier by Is to Is 6d a head. A good sale resulted for heavy weight sheep firm on last week, while light weight sheep were easier. Only prime quality hoggets were sought after, while light weigths were not wanted. There was a keen demand for spring lambs. SALE AT ADDINGTON. RISE IN FAT SHEEP PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 19. Normal entries came forward for the weekly stock market at Addington today. Prices for fat cattle were slightly easier. Prices for fat sheep rose slightly. The store sheep yarding was slightly larger than last week, but on the whole values were not quite so good. A line of good three-qquarterbred wether hoggets made to 17s sd, ordinary sorts 5s 6d to 12s. A line of shorn medium conditioned two-tooth wethers made 13s Bs, but apart from the best ewes and lambs, there was a reduction in values for other sorts, and a pen of ewes and forward lambs sold to 18s, ordinary pens 9s 6d to 11s. Prices of better class spring lambs rose sharply, light prime sorts to 11 id a lb, heavyweight lambs to lid. The fat sheep entry was made up by a bigger proportion of shorn wethers. Both shorn and woolly wethers were better by about 2s, and shorn and woolly ewes to Is 6d a head. Extra prime heavy woolly wethers made to 36s lOd, prime woolly 32s to 345, prime medium woolly 29s to 30s 6d, light woolly to 225; extra prime shorn wethers to 31s 4d, prime shorn 26s to 28s 6d, prime medium shorn 22s 6d to 255; extra prime woolly ewes to 325; prime woolly 25s to 275; prime medium woolly 21s to 245; extra prime shorn ewes to 25s lOd, prime shorn 21s to 23s 6d, medium shorn 18s to 20s, light shorn to 265.

Although there was little change in the number of fat cattle entered, there was a big improvement in quality, which was about the best this season. The market opened about 20s easier than a week ago, but toward the end was nearly on a par with the good rates ruling last week, except for cows, which were 20s a head cheaper. Best beef made 45s a 1001 b, younger steers about 50s, heifers in some cases to 445, cows to 40s; extra prime heavy steers brought to £2l 12s 6d, prime heavy £l7 10s to £l9 15s, prime medium £l6 5s to £l7 15s, light to £l2; extra prime heifers to £l4 12s 6d, prime £l2 to £l4, medium £lO 10s to £ll 10s, light to £10; extra prime cows to £l4 7s 6d, prime £lO to £l3, medium £8 5s to £9 2s, light to £B. Fat pigs made a full entry in the porker section and all classes met a good sale at last week’s price, which was practically maintained throughout the auction. Choppers were in heavy supply and prices eased by 10s to 20s a head. In the bacon section the penning was the heaviset this season, quality was scarcely up to last week’s standard, but prices showed little change. Choppers made £2 Is to £4 18s 6d, porkers 45s 6d to £3 9s 6d; average price a lb 8d to Bgd; baconers made £3 7s 6d to £5 9s 6d; average price a lb, to 7Jd.
