CANADA & U.S.A.

TREATY READY FOR SIGNATURE. NO PUBLICATION TILL AFTER ELECTION. OTTAWA, October 18. The Finance Minister (Mr C. Dunning), who has returned from a health holiday in the United States, announces that a Canadian-United States treaty has been completed and is ready for signature. There will be no consummation of the treaty pending the United States election, lest the pact should become a political issue. A detailed announcement is expected on Armistice Day. The Minister of Justice (Mr F. Lapointe), who is acting-Premier, announced that Parliament would assemble before Christmas to permit of its prorogation before the Royal Visit in June.

Now they are talking about “dreadnoughts of the air,” which reminds us the mosquito season is not far away.
