CATTLE DISEASES
SERIOUS LOSSES IN WAIKATO APPEAL TO GOVERNMENT FOR VETERINARY AID (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Te Aroha-Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers Union has applied to the Department of Agriculture for the stationing of at least two veterinary surgeons in the district, consequent upon heavy losses of dairy stock through staggers and allied diseases. From February to September. 1962 cattle have been sent to three boiling-down works and hundreds more are not being sent through difficulty in reaching the conveying lorries. The estimated loss for the past seven months totals, £36,000.
