Frost, 2.6 degrees. General situation: An anti-cyclone is 1 centred over the North Tasman Sea and extends on to the North Island while a westerly depression is advancing across the south Tasman. Forecast: Moderate to strong north-wester-ly winds, increasing to gales at times about Cook Strait; weather mainly fair to cloudy but with occasional light rain about and west of the ranges; temperatures moderate.
