THE GREATEST DRAMA
A DEFENCE OF CHRISTIAN DOGMA. In its opening passages, “The Greatest Drama Ever Staged,” by Dorothy L. Sayers, is a spirited denial of the charge often made that the churches are-empty because preachers insist too much upon doctrine and what people call dull dogma. “The fact is the precise opposite,” Miss Sayers declares. “It is the peglect of dogma that makes for dullness. The Christian faith is the most exciting drama that ever staggered the imagination of man —and the dogma is the drama.” In a little book of pamphlet size. Miss Sayers elaborates these contentions with force and power and with a picturesque vigour of thought and language. Although her argument is rather sketchy, as well as unconventional, Miss Sayers has imparted to her essay a quality of ringing challenge and her defence of the official creed of Christendom is calculated equally to attract attention and to command respect. “The Greatest Drama Ever Staged” is published by Messrs Hodder and Stoughton. London. A copj' has been received from Mr W. S. Smart. Sydney.
