Murray; buttons (presented by Mrs Murray and Mrs Court), Mrs Forbes and Miss Welch. Mr G. Brown, in his address to those present, complimented the club on having such an efficient secretary in Mr V. Gustofson. He had given up a great deal of time to his duties and had carried them out to the entire satisfaction of everyone. The club was very fortunate indeed in having such an excellent secretary. Opening of Bowling Season. The official opening of the Carterton Bowling Club will take place next Saturday at 2 o’clock. It is desired that members make the occasion a special tea day. The green is in good order this year and if the weather favours the club an enjoyable opening day can be looked forward to by visitors and members of the local club. f Church Jubilee. Next Sunday will mark the occasion of the jubilee of the CartertonGladstone Presbyterian Church, and special services will be conducted by the Rev R. Inglis and the Rev R. Byers, M.A. At the evening service the cantata, “Shepherd of Men,” will be rendered by a choir of 40 voices. The jubilee services will be continued for a week when various functions will be held. The congregations of Carterton and Gladstone are looking forward to a successful jubilee. Odd Fellows’ Lodge. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows (Manchester Unity) was held last evening, Bro N. J. Wilkins, N.G., presiding over a fair attendance of members. Correspondence' received included a letter from the Wellington District Secretary relative to ritual and lodge degrees and another from the Grand Secretary in connection with the Government Security Bill. The secretary of the Wellington Past Grands’ Lodge wrote notifying that a meeting of interest would be held in Britannia Lodge room. Clyde Quay, Wellington, on Monday, October 31, and extending .an invitation for all P.G’s. to attend. Several members signified their intention of being present at the meeting; The ritual examiners, Bros J. H. Langley, R. Baikie and C.-J. De Lacey, wrote notifying the result of the recent ritual contest which resulted in favour of the Loyal Carterton Lodge with 263.1 points against the Loyal Masterton Lodge’s 2561 points. Special mention was made in the report of the excellent work of some of the officers of both lodges, and each set of officers was complimented upon their good team work. Sick pay to the extent of £l6 10s was passed for payment. Several members were advanced in degrees.
