Launch Stolen. A fishing launch valued at £lOOO, the property of Mr G. T. Bentley, a Timaru fisherman, was stolen from Timaru harbour in the early hours of Saturday morning. The launch was later recovered by the police in Akaroa. The theft, which was an unusual one, is believed to have taken place some time after 3 a.m., as the launch was seen at her moorings shortly before that hour. The Widow’s Mite. The case of a widow who arrived in New Zealand and had to seek the assistance of the Auckland Hospital Board was mentioned by the chairman, Mr Allan J. Moody, at a meeting of the board recently. In five years she received £7O from the board. In small amounts she kept paying, until the full amount was repaid. "I cannot mention her name, ’ said Mr Moody, "but she showed a wonderful spirit. She is a worker and a Trier.”
