HEARTBROKEN BRIDE
MARRIED ONLY 10 HOURS. HUSBAND LEAVES BIG INCOME. Under the will of her husband, who died ten hours after their marriage, 32-year-old Mrs Eileen Mary Newey will receive a large income while she remains’ a widow. The husband, Mr Clement John Newey, aged 63, of Hockley Heath, Warwick, left £54,310, with net personalty £46,620. Mrs Newey receives £lOOO and his household effects; 5000 ordinary shares of £1 each, and all his holding of 5 per cent cumulative preference shares in Newey and Tayler, Limited, during her widowhood. Before her marriage, Mrs Newey was Miss Hine, daughter of the Mayor of Newark, Notts. Shortly after the wedding breakfast Mr Newey collapsed. He became unconscious and died later in his wife’s arms. It was discovered that a burst blood vessel was the cause of death. The bride was heartbroken. Mr Newey’s first wife-had died a year previously. He left half the residue of his property to his son Edward Vernon Newey, and half between the children of his son James Clement Newey.
