KNOX CHURCH

LADIES’ GUILD. MONTHLY MEETING. The Knox Ladies’ Guild held a very successful meeting on Wednesday at the residence of Mrs F. M. Reynolds, The Terrace, Lansdowne, the president (Mrs G. W. Morice) presiding. A message was received from Solway College to the effect that since the Guild members were this year engaged in raising money for the building fund, the girls would not expect assistance at the annual bazaar. However, a cordial invitation was extended to the members to be present when this was held. Mrs Burling offered to place flowers in the church for the month of November, and Mrs Gaskin agreed to take charge of the “bring and buy” stall at next month’s meeting. A short musical programme was presented as follows: —Songs, Mesdames Carstens and Morton; trio, Mesdames Bennett, Pearse and Traynor; and mandolin solos, Mrs Ordish. During the afternoon, a “bring and buy” stall, conducted by Mrs Nitz, did good business. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Reynolds, Traynor and Heyder. Votes of thanks were accorded to the ladies who provided the programme and to the hostesses, especially to Mrs Reynolds, who had placed her home at the disposal of the Guild for the afternoon. The next meeting will be held at the residence o£ Miss McLaren, Renall Street.
