GUN CLUB COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The local Gun Club opened.its season on Saturday when there was a fair muster of members. Two sweepstakes were held, the winner of the first was G. Sutherland with N. Prussing second, and in the second shoot the winner was S. Hall with N. Prussing second. Personal Items. The deepest sympathy of the residents of the district will be extended to Mr and Mrs Fred Bird in the death of their infant son, which occurred recently. Mr Norman Murphy was taken seriously ill on Sunday and is now in the Masterton Hospital. Cheese Company. The adjourned annual general meeting of shareholders of the local cheese factory was held on Monday. An amendment in the articles of the company was agreed to. The directors for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —Messrs D. Warren (chairman), T. Hume, L. Bell, R. McDougall, J. McDonald, and G. Gillies. Mangold Growing Contest. The first prize for mangold growing competition by school children was won by the local school. Wedding. A wedding of considerable interest to the district took place at Wellington recently, when Miss H. Sutherland, daughter of Mr and Mrs Sutherland, Blenheim, was married to Dugald, eldest son of the late Mr D. Sutherland and Mrs M. Sutherland, Waihora. They ivill take up their residence at Pifinoa. Lake Outlet. The south-easterly gale which was experienced recently partly closed the outlet of the lake. With better conditions now prevailing it is quite evident that the channel will gradually widen again and allow the water to run out faster.
