, TARARUA RIFLE CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Tararua Rifle Club opened the 1938-39 season with a match fired by teams picked by the President and Secretary. This was won by the President’s team. Rifleman C. Rasmussen registered a possible at 300 yards. The scores were as follow: — f President's Team.

Women’s Institute. The monthly meeting of the Rongokokako Women’s Institute was held in the Rongokokako Hall on Tuesday last. Miss A. Shultz presiding over a good attendance of members. Several visitors were made welcome. Miss McLachlan, Hamua, gave an interesting demonstration of stencilling, which was followed with great interest by all present. A bring and buy stall benefited the Institute funds considerably. The competitions for the month were;— Ginger cake, Miss M. Sigvertsen 1, Miss D. Nagel 2. Best lady's buttonhole, Miss D. Nagel I. Mrs Nagel 2. A skill competition was won by Mrs Thompson. Hamua. The hostesses, Misses M. Sigvertsen and A. Cooper, served afternoon tea. Eketahuna Sale. There continues to be a good demand for dairy stock in the district and at yesterday's sale late rates were well maintained. There was an active demand for pigs, weaners being disposed of at the highest current rates. ' ■ Young Farmers' Club. There was only a small attendance at the monthly meeting of the Nireaha Young Farmers’ Club, sickness being the cause. Mr S. Freeman, Dominion organising secretary for the movement, will attend the next meeting of the club, and will give an address. Influenza and Measles. A number of residents in the district are confined to their beds with influenza or measles.
