THE RECTORIAL ELECTION. DR BENES NOMINATED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, October 13. Although Dr Benes, former President of Czechoslovakia, has not replied to the Glasgow University Nationalists’ cable asking him to stand, he has been nominated as a Nationalist candidate in the rectorial election. A message received from London on Tuesday stated that Dr Benes had agreed to stand as a Scottish Nationalist candidate at the rectorial election. A later message received on the same day stated that, although members of the University fully believed that Dr Benes had accepted nomination, Dr Benes had advised the Czech Legation that he had not accepted and had not even considered it. The election avill be held on October 22. Other candidates are Sir Archibald Sinclair (Liberal), Mr Laurence Housman (Pacifist), and Sir Henry Lunn (Distributist).
