RACING IN AUSTRALIA
MEETING AT CAULFIELD. AJAX WINS STAKES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, MELBOURNE, October 12. The weather was fine and there was a fair attendance at Caulfield races today. Kerry Bay registered his third win in his last four starts, by beating Flavikin in the Oby Hurdles. The New Zealand-bred Folk Song disappointed by a failure to gain a place in the Nursery Handicap, which went to the unfancied Girella.
Ajax led always in the Caulfield Stakes. Avenger ran a good race, but Young Idea tired. Ajax, whose victory was his eleventh in succession, has now registered fifteen wins and three seconds in nineteen starts, and has won £21,625 in stakes.
Judean outclassed his rivals in the Moonga Handicap. Conveyor went a poor race, being the last to finish. Prince Quex ran a fair race. Kingdom improved on recent form to win the Coongy Handicap. Plectrum ran a game race. Queen of Song finished fast to dead-heat for third place. Catalogue went a poor race. Pibroch broke a long run of failures to register a narrow win in the Welter Handicap. Badger), 1; Avenger, 2; Young Idea, 3. Four started. Spear Chief was fourth. Time, 1.50.; —a course recqrjJ. Moonga Handicap: Judean (W. Elliot), 1; Beechwood, 2; Jakin, 3. Eleven started. Three lengths; three-quarters of a length. Bridgelaw was fourth. Time, 1.24;. Coongy Handicap: Kingdom (J. O’Sullivan), 1; Plectrum, 2; Queen of Song and Tuckerbox, dead-heat, 3. Thirteen started. Half a neck; length and a half. Plymouth Hoe was fifth. Time, 2.4. A protest against the winner for alleged interference was dismissed. Moora Welter Handicap: Pibroch (S.
