EKETAHUNA

POLITICAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Considerable interest is being taken in the address which is to be delivered by Mr J. H. Irving tonight. There is every indication of a large attendance of the public as interest in politics has probably never been so keen as on the present occasion. Dairy Company. The re-election of Mr W. Simpson as chairman of the Eketahuna Dairy Co., should meet with the general approval of the suppliers to the factory as not only is he a successful businessman but he takes a very keen interest in the dairy industry and particularly the affairs of the Eketahuna Dairy Company. The indications are that the company will have a very successful season. The quality of the herds in the Eketahuna district is being gradually improved and it is noticeable that the “boarder” cow is being gradually eliminated from herds in the district as farmers are recognising that the greatest profits from the dairy farm can only be obtained if the herd is composed of high grade cows, and the system of management is framed on right lines. Golf Season. The golf season is drawing to a close after one of most successful periods recorded in Eketahuna. A substantial improvement is noticeable in the general standard of play, and the various competitions have been very keenly contested. The win .of Mr J. Dickson, who beat a strong opponent in Mr D. Fraser in the final of the men’s championship, was a very popular one. Mr Dickson has played, consistently good golf during the season. The match at the weekend between the Mahunga Club and the Eketahuna Club is being looked forward to and an enjoyable contest is anticipated.
