GROWING GRAVER
PALESTINE SITUATION LARGE-SCALE OPERATIONS PLANNED. COUNTERING ARAB TACTICS. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) JERUSALEM, October 12. After another day of killings, bombings and sabotaging, the situation in Palestine is becoming increasingly graver.' Large-scale troop operations are being planned to quell the outrages. Today’s tension centred in Bethlehem, where British troops were drawn up behind sandbag barricades at every strategic point. The Government has announced that it is prepared to issue identity cards to all applicants over sixteen, in order to protect inhabitants in their relations with the civil and military authorities. The announcement is also designed to counteract the tactics of the rebels in ordering Arabs to wear Bedouin headgear, which has prevented peaceful persons being distinguished from rebels. .
