FOOD IMPORTS
ANOTHER REGULATION MOVE IN BRITAIN NATIONAL FARMERS' UNION PROPOSAL STATEMENT OF ALTERNATIVES By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, October 11. The regulation of food imports, pending the operation of commodity councils agreed upon at the Empire Producers’ Conference in Sydney, is proposed by the National Farmers’ Union for the restoration of agriculture. The Union declares that the quantitative regulation of imports and price insurance wherever price levels are unduly low are the only alternatives to a levy and subsidy policy. Failing the adoption of this scheme, the Union will be bound to press for a revision of treaties to enable agriculture to exercise its rights under the Import Duties Act.
