GRIP WEAKENING
JAPANESE IN NORTH CHINA GARRISONS LOSING CONTROL. OVER COUNTRYSIDES AND CITIES. (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) HONG KONG, October 11. Reports from areas in North China occupied by the Japanese, especially the Shantung Province, indicate that the garrisons are rapidly losing control of the entire countryside. The only cities remaining in Japanese hands are Weihaiwei and Chefoo. FUGITIVE SURVIVORS. JAPANESE BOMBED EROM THE AIR. (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) HANKOW. October 11. The Chinese bombed from the air 300 Japanese survivors of the Battle of West Tehan, who are desperately holding out in the hills, ten miles from Tehan. _____
