ARIA CONTEST

NEW ZEALAND ENTRANT FAILS By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. MELBOURNE, October 11.' Mrs Richard Bradley, the only New Zealand entrant in the annual “Sun” newspaper area contest, failed to reach the eight selected finalists who are to appear at the Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday night. There were 114 entrants from all parts of Australia for the event, which is held in conjunction with the Ballarat competitions. Of Mrs Bradley, who sang “My Heart Is Weary,” from the operetta “Nadesha,” the musical critic of the “Sun” said: “Her voice is sympathetic and under good control. Her interpretative instinct is aided by effective enunciation and word emphasis. Sometimes the voice deviated from good pitch.”
