NEW ZEALAND GOODS

CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE SALES. STATEMENT BY MINISTER OF INDUSTRIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 11. “It has been decided to launch a campaign to stimulate the promotion of sales in the Dominion of New Zea-land-made products, utilising those Government services which lend themselves to propaganda and with the cooperation of industrial interests to make the appeal as widespread as possible, thereby increasing the prosperity of workers engaged in our manufacturing and primary industries,” said the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon D. G. Sullivan, in an interview tonight. “Details of the campaign are not yet complete and conferences are being held with the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation and Labour federations with the object of achieving a comprehensive and co-operative effort, and the progress made suggests that the campaign will produce satisfactory results. “The importance of instilling the principle of supporting local products in the young is fully realised and the organisation offered by the Education Department will be made use of to this end. Broadcasting services will be utilised and will form a feature in the scheme, while, among .others, the Post and Telegraph, Railway, Government Printing and Publicity Departments, all have a share in the proposals, and I am assured of the hearty co-operation of all concerned. Details of the campaign will shortly be finalised and the degree of enthusiasm shown by all is most encouraging. “I am confident,” concluded the Minister, “that the public will respond to our industries by exercising a voluntary preference for locally-made goods.”
