CARDINAL INNITZER
MORE DEMONSTRATIONS IN VIENNA ' STREETS ROUND CATHEDRAL CLOSED. POLICE PREVENT RIOTING. By Telegraph—-Press Association —Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.45 p.m.) VIENNA, October 10. A large crowd gathered tonight outside the palace of Cardinal Innitzer, mSt Stephen’s Square, shouting: “Traitor! Criminal! Send him to Dachau!" The police prevented rioting. They had previously ordered the suspension of a* series of Bible study services which began in St Stephen’s on October 9 and were due to be concluded with a station from the Cardinal on October 13. Hundreds arriving tonight found the Cathedral closed, the square and surrounding streets guarded and a number of anti-Gatholics demonstrating. The police eventually cleared the streets and placed' a cordon round the cathedral. Many arrests were made. It is now revealed that the Cardinal was visiting a religious institution , when the palace was attacked on October 8 and returned at 10.30 p.m. to find the Cathedral fSiuare closed to traffic. He obtained entrance to his palace through the house of a friend, Bishop Kamprath.
