OBITUARY
LORD HAWKE. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, October 10. ■ The death has occurred of Lord Hawke, who became suddenly ill at a holiday home in North Berwick last Friday and was operated on on Saturday. Lord Hawke was captain of the Yorkshire XI 1883-1910, and President |of the M.C.C. 1914-18. He is remembered in New Zealand as donor of the -Hawke Cup, for minor cricket associations. COMMISSIONER GRIFFITH. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, October 10. The death is announced of Lieuten-ant-Commissioner Richard Griffith of the Salvation Army, aged 62. He was for forty years secretary to General Evangeline Booth.
