STATE THEATRE
‘■WALKING DOWN BROADWAY.’’ “Walking Down Broadway,” a heartcatching portrayal of six girls’ exciting lives, will be shown at the State Theatre tomorrow night. Teeming with drama as Broadway itself, the 20th Century-Fox hit features Claire Trevor, Phyllis Brooks, Leah Ray, Dixie Dunbar, Lynn Bari and Jayne Regan in a fine cast. Claire Trevor lends warmth and understanding to the role of the girl who never lost her head, until she knew she was losing her man; Phyllis Brooks is cast as the girl who could resist everything except temptation; Leah Ray portrays a lass who knew too many racketeers for her own good; Dixie Dunbai’ goes through the film with a sugar daddy; Lynn Bari dreams of her name in lights; and Jayne Regan is the only girl smart enough to cling to her illusions. Co-featured with the girls are Michael Whalen, Tom Beck, Douglas Fowley, Walter Woolf King and Jed Prouty. When the modern racketeer replaced the old-fashioned rustler on the range the next step was only logical. To Smith Ballew, cowboy singer, goes the distinction of being the first detective genius of the West, in his newest 20th Century-Fox release, “Panamint’s Bad Man,” which will open tomorrow night at the State Theatre, an outstanding “thriller.”
