KITCHEN TEA. (“Times-Age” Special.) A kitchen tea in honour of Miss Baucke and Mr Eric Preston was given by the ladies of Rongokokako, there being a large attendance of residents from various parts of the district. Dancing filled the time pleasantly, the music being supplied by Mr Norman Cooper and others. Mr F. Sigvertsen was M.C. After supper, Mr A. N. Suter asked Miss Baucke to accept a number of very useful presents. ’ Miss Agnes Schultz presented Miss Baucke with a dressing table from the Rongokokako Women’s Institute. Mr Eric Preston thanked all present for the gifts. Musical honours were heartily accorded Miss Baucke and Mr Preston. Purchase of Bull. At the bull sale at Palmerston North Mr A. G. Golder, of Nireaha, purchased Tararua Leo from Mr P. A. Anderson, of Levin, for 27gns. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. MEETING AT KAIPARORO. The Kaiparoro Women’s Institute held its September meeting recently, Mrs C. Burton presiding. Arrangements were made for the council meeting to be held in Eketahuna on September 21, and Mrs C. Welch was appointed delegate. Mrs H. Brookes gave a very interesting talk on her trip as a bride from England to New Zealand. She was accorded a vote of thanks, carried by Competitions were won as follow: — Chocolate cake, Mrs J. Dick, 1; Miss V. Welch, 2. Article made out of sugar bag, Miss L. Dick, 1; Mrs Braddick, 2. Best flower for month, Mrs Harvey (long trumpet daffodil), 1; Mrs Braddick (Candytuft), 2. The games competition arranged by Mrs G. Dick was won by Mrs J. Dick. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames G. and J. Dick and Miss A. Dick.
