LADIES AT PLAY. MANAWATU TOURNAMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., October 7. Playing beautifully steady golf, despite the high westerly wind, Miss P. Helean (Hastings) beat Miss Jean Horwell (Timaru) at the nineteenth, in the final of the Manawatu Ladies’ Golf Club’s annual open tournament, on the Hokowhitu links this afternoon. Details of the concluding day’s play are as follow: — Manawatu Open Championship. — Final: Miss Helean beat Miss Horwell at the nineteenth. Ekstedt Handicap Cup.—Final: Miss Kilgour Carter beat Mrs. Welton Hogg, 4 and 3. Hokowhitu Plate. —Semi-finals: Mrs. A. Park (Hutt) beat Mrs. S. Foreman (Miramar), 1 up; Mrs. D. Collins (Featherston) beat Mrs L. Speechley (Manawatu), 3 and 2. Final: Mrs Collins beat Mrs Park, 2 up. Manawatu Handicap. — Semi-final: Miss I. Rutledge (Manawatu) beat Miss R. Rutledge, 2 and 1; Miss K. Garner (Manawatu) beat Mrs G. Dixon (Manawatu), 5 and 4. Final: Miss Garner beat Miss Rutledge, 5 and 4.
