The annual report of the Carterton Cricket Club states inter alia:—The season in some respects was not a very successful one, as may be seen from the statement of receipts and expenditure. Unless something can be done to raise funds the club will have another very lean season. If it was not for several donations the club would not have been able to carry on. In the competition we finished third after a very even competition. The team was handicapped to a great extent by not having the same members available every Saturday, and through lack if a suitable practice pitch and net. It is to be hoped that this year these matters may be remedied. During the season several members’ gained representative honours, and we congratulate the following:—L. Berry, T. Harp/E. Thompson, A. Ward. Our pitch’during the season was not very good, but it is hoped that this season we may prepare it better in time for the matches. Thanks are due to Mr T. Harp, who spent a lot of time improving the pitch and outfield. On several occasions we played on the Clareville Club’s wicket on the Clareville Racecourse. The thanks of the club are due to Messrs F. Izzard, A. C. Tucker, J. Laurenson, E. H. Fisher for donations; to Messrs H. E. Ward and P. Fitzgerald for arranging transport on several occasions, to Mr L. J. Berry for presenting the club with a bat, and to any others who helped the club in any way during the season.
