DISORDER AT MEETINGS
PROSECUTIONS IN AUCKLAND. SEVERAL OFFENDERS FINED. By Telegraph —Press Association. AUCKLAND, October 6.After dealing with five _ cases against men in the Magistrates Court on charges of disorderly behaviour at recent political meetings in Auckland, Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., expressed the hope that there would be no need for further prosecutions, and intimated that if there were he would be compelled to impose the maximum fine of £5 in each case. Sub-Inspector Fox, who prosecuted, said the police disliked bringing such actions against interjectors, but their hand had been forced through the disorder that was taking place at so many meetings in spite of the warning of the Minister in Charge of the Police Department, the Hon P. Fraser, who had also instructed the police to take prompt action whenever necessary. Fines ranging froam £2 and costs to £4 were imposed by the magistrate.
