FANCY DRESS DANCE

AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. Last evening, in the Epiphany Hall, a most enjoyable fancy dress dance was held under the auspices of the Church of the Epiphany Ladies’ Guild. The music was supplied by Mr Jack Barnes, who delighted everybody with the excellence of his playing. Mesdames J. A. Betts and Corran Perry combined were to have been the judges but owing to indispotion Mrs Perry was unable to be present. However, Mrs Betts, with the assistance of Mesdames H. M. Boddington and F. Whitton, proved a capable judge.

There were many beautiful dresses and costumes and prizes were awarded as follows:—Best Dressed Couple, Henry VIII (Miss Dorothy Kemp) and Anne Boleyn (Miss Grace Hopkins). Most Original: Miss D. Wylie and Miss J. Jackson. Period Costume, Miss B. Coleman. Character Dress, Miss Johnston (Tyroliene). National Dress, Hawaiian Girls, Miss Williams and Miss Adams.

Amid loud applause little Miss C. Kemp presented to Mrs Betts a bouquet on behalf of the ladies’ guild. Mr W. Kemp was a capable M.C. Supper was provided by members of the ladies’ guild and was served by Mesdames Braggins and Kemp and Misses Kemp and Wyber.
