BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY

LACK OF PUBLIC SUPPORT. ANNUAL MEETING POSTPONED. Owing to the lack of interest on the part of the public, the annual meeting of the Masterton Beautifying Society, which was called for last evening, was postponed for a fortnight, when a further meeting will be called to ascertain if the public wishes ’< t (he society to continue its activities. / There was an attendance of five, all members of the committee, at last night’s meeting and it was felt that it would be useless endeavouring to carry on unless the public was willing to support the society. Including a grant of £lOO promised by the Masterton Borough Council and after meeting the cost of this year’s pruning of street trees, . the society will have a credit balance of about £l5O in hand. The meeting at which the public is asked to give an indication of its support is to be held on Tuesday, October 18, at 7.30 o’clock.
