ART OF THE THEATRE

DRAMA LEAGUE FINALS IN MASTERTON.

MONDAY & TUESDAY NEXT.

Patrons of the dramatic art will rejoice that on Monday and Tuesday next an opportunity will be given them of seeing presented at the Opera House the winning plays from various centres of the North Island. This is the first occasion on which the finals have been held in Masterton. Miss Elizabeth Blake will be the adjudicator and the winning team will compete in the New Zealand finals. As only the winning teams of each area will be acting, a high standard should be attained. The competing teams will be Hawke's Bay, Southern Hawke’s Bay. Wanganui, Wellington, Wairarapa and Manawatu. At its local festival, the winning Manawatu team had the honour of winning the A certificate and is the first North Island team to gain that coveted honour. As the local festival has just concluded, the public will be keen to compare the local standard with that of the leaders in other parts of the Dominion. Four plays will be presented on Monday night, beginning at 8 p.m. and three on Tuesday, when the adjudicator will give her decision. The box plan for both nights is now open at Mr Vivian Joseph's shop, Queen Street, where seats may be reserved without extra charge.
