MASTERTON RACES
MEETING AT OPAKI NEXT WEEK. ACCEPTANCES CLOSE TOMORROW. Acceptances for the Masterton Racing Club’s annual meeting, to be held next Wednesday and Thursday, will close tomorrow night with the secretary, Mr N. H. James. It is anticipated that the entries will not thin out to any great extent and that large fields will parade in the various events, ensuring the club a successful meeting. Masterton business firms have been requested bv the Mayor. Mr T. Jordan, and by the" Masterton Retailers’ Association, to close their premises from noon on the second day of the meeting, when there should be a bumpei attendance of the public, to enjoy the good sport which will be provided. The track is looking its best and fast times should be the order on both days. This morning ’about 25 horses did light and half-pace work on the plough. Most of them are engaged at the Masterton meeting and several on form should figure in the stake money.
