JOHNSONVILLE SALE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. A small yarding of all classes of cattle and a large yarding of sheep were offered at Johnsonville stock sale. Prime quality bullocks met with good competition, with prices showing no alteration, while unfinished bullocks were hard to sell even at reduced rates. Good cows and heifers met with a ready sale, while light and unfinished sorts were not wanted. Prices for prime cattle were easier by 10s a head on last week, while unfinished cows were down 15s a head. The wethers yarded were of mixed quality, only a few pens of prime sheep coming forward. These met with keen competition, with prices showing no alteration, while unfinished sheep were hard to sell. A good sale for all classes of ewes resulted with prices showing little alteration. No prime quality hoggets were yarded, the balance consisting of light and unfinished sheep, prices being down by Is to Is 6d a head on last week. Spring lambs met keen competition, with prices firm on those ruling last week. VALUES AT ADDINGTON KEEN DEMAND FOR FAT SHEEP CHRISTCHURCH, October 5. A larger entry, particularly fat cattle, came forward for the weekly stock sale at Addington today. Fat cattle showed a fall of 30s a head on the exceptionally high rates of last week. The fat sheep entry was slightly smaller, and good shorn wethers rose by 2s a head, and good woolly ewes by Is to Is 6d. The store sheep yarding consisted of about 2000 head. The entry of ewes and lambs was not particularly attractive, and did not sell so well, making to 13s Id, poor pens 6s to 7s 6d, with medium ewe lambs 9s to 12s 6d. Hoggets made another good sale and values were fully up to last week’s. A pen of nicely woolled hoggets sold to 14s 4d and a line of ewe hoggets to 17s lOd. Shorn hoggets again failed to attract competition and sold from 5s to 7s. The fat sheep' entry was slightly smaller than last week, comprising about 4250. Quality generally was well up to the standard of recent sales. There was a keen demand for good quality sheep, shorn wethers advancing 2s a head, but woollies showed little advance on last week. Ewes were up Is 6d a head for all classes. MASTERTON SALE GOOD COMPETITION FOR SHEEP. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:---We held our weekly sale at Masterton yesterday when a small yarding of sheep was submitted to a fair attendance. Sheep met with good competition and sold at late rates. The following are the prices realised: —Fat b.f. hoggets, 20s to 225; fat ewes, 20s to 21s; ewes and lambs, 12s 2d (all counted); woolly wethers, 15s 6d to 18s; cull hoggets, Us 6d to 12s 6d; 2-th. wethers, 20s; ewe hoggets, 34s 3d. MESSRS DALGETY & CO. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their weekly Masterton sale held in conjunction with their horse sale as follows:—A small yarding came forward and comprised mostly fat sheep. These produced good competition and maintained values on last week. The horses yarded met with a good sale, and any draughts broken to all harness made good values. One 4-yr. draught gelding broken to all harness offered in our entry and offered on account of Mr L. W. Colquhoun, Opaki, met with .spirited competition and fell to a bid of £43 10s. A total clearance was affected and the following will indicate values: — Sheep: Woolly fat S.D. ewes, 19s lOd; w. fat wethers, 27s 6d; fat maiden ewes, 20s Id; fat hoggets, 20s to 20s lOd. Pigs: Weaners, 21s, 24s to 24s 6d. Horses: Draught 4-yr. gelding, £43 10s; draught aged mare, all work,- £26 10s; hacks, £lO, £ll to £l2 10s; unbroken hacks, £4, £4 10s to £6. CO.-OP. DISTRIBUTING CO. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-oper-ative Distributing Company, Ltd., offered small yardings of sheep and cattle and a large entry of draught and light horses at their Masterton sale and horse fair yesterday. Includeyd in the entries there was a consignment of useful working draughts from the South Island. The following are some of our realisations:—Draught gelding, 4 years. £3O; draught gelding, 9 years, £l9; draught gelding, 9 years, £25; draught gelding, 3 years, £l9; draught gelding, 3 years, £l7; draught mare, 8 years, £25; draught mare, 9 years, £24; draught mare, 8 years, £27; hacks, £8 to £10; children’s pony, £9. Jersey steers, £4; yearling Jersey steers, £1 12s Rd; Jersey heifers, £2; cull wether hoggets, 14s. Porkers, £2 10s; weane/ pigs, 20s to 225.
