OBITUARY
SIR HAROLD BEAUCHAMP | (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ; WELLINGTON, This Day. I Obituary, Sir Harold Beauchamp. ; The late Sir Harold Beauchamp was! born at Ararat, Victoria, in 1858. a son of Mr A. Beauchamp, formerly a member of the House of Representatives foi’ Picton and Sounds, and a member of the Provincial Council. He came to New Zealand in 1861, and was educated at Wanganui Collegiate School and privately, commencing his business life in Wellington in 1876. The late Sir Harold Beauchamp was appointed a director of the Bank of New Zealand by the Government in 1898, and served as chairman for nearly 15 years. He did not seek re-election in 1922. He was a director'of several financial concerns and was a member of the Wellington Harbour Board for 13 years, three years as chairman, and was for many years a prominent figure in the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. In 1923 he was created a Knight Bachelor in recognition of his distinguished public services, particularly in connection with financial matters.
