578,666 New Zealanders Can ’t be wrong; When the vast majority of grown-up New Zealanders are of one mind on a subject, such a degree of unanimity indicates a deep-rooted conviction. At the last Election 578,666 electors gave an overwhelming verdict against prohibition, for the following reasons: 1. New Zealand must vote against prohibition which has so thoroughly demonstrated its calamitous results. It can no longer be regarded as a serious issue. 2. New Zealand cannot afford to squander millions to provide additional proof of an acknowledged universal failure. 3. Under Continuance the licensed trade contributes very substantially to the revenue and creates legitimate employment for thousands. 4. Continuance is a vital necessity for the continued growth of our richly potential tourist industry. 5. America gave prohibition a thorough trial, lasting fourteen years and costing billions of dollars. Repeal was carried by the biggest majority ever recorded on any question. 6.
