ODD FELLOWSHIP
GATHERING IN MASTERTON. VISITORS FROM WELLINGTON. On Saturday evening a number of members (sisters and brethren) of Wellington lodges connected with the Manchester Unity Order of Odd Fellows paid a visit to the Loyal Masterton Lodge. A large number of Odd Fellows from various Wairarapa branches/were also present. The gathering took the form of a banquet followed by dancing, cards and indoor bowls. P.G. Bro. G. S. Bruce, president of the Wairarapa Past Grands’ Lodge, presided and the following toast list was honoured: “The King;” “M.U.1.0.0.F., proposed by the chairman and responded to by I.P.G.M. of New Zealand branch, Bro. A. C. Blair; “Wellington District,” P.D.G.M. Bro. C. J. DeLacey—District G.M. Sister Evelyn McFarlane; “Wellington Past Grands’ Lodge,” P.G. Bro. R. Baikie—P.G. Bro. F. A. Davis, president Wellington P.G. Lodge; “Wairarapa P.G. Lodge,” P.G. Bro. W. A. Palmer —P.G. Bro. G. S. Bruce; “The Ladies,” P.G. Bro. A. Rippon—P.G. Sister K. Mitchell. Apologies were received .for unavoidable absence from the Grand Secretary, Bro. A. G. Shrimpton, P.G. Bro. W. Holt'and others. The gathering which was a very enjoyable one terminated at 11.30 p.m. On Sunday those of the visitors who stayed in Masterton over night were taken to places of interest in the district including the Fish Hatcheries and were given afternoon tea prior to their return to Wellington. A return visit to the city by Wairarapa members will be made early in the new year.
