LONDON SALES Messrs Levin and Co Ltd have received the following cable from their London Agents, dated September 30: — “The auctions closed here today firm, buyers operating freely. The abnormal prices paid on the 28th September have not been maintained owing to the great improvement in the political situation. The total quantity offered was 86,032 bales sold 71,000 bales, carried forward 61,500 bales, including 23,500 from New Zealand. Compared with the opening rates, we quote:— Greasy Merino, best, jd per lb higher; average, Jd per lb higher; fine halfbreds, 50/565, Id per lb higher; extra fine crossbreds, 48/50s, Ad to i’d per lb higher; fine crossbreds, 46/48s, |d to ;]d per lb higher; medium crossbreds, 44/ 465, id to Jd per lb higher; ■ coarse crossbreds, 40/445, Id to 2d per lb higher; low crossbreds, 36/40s, id to i]d per lb higher; slipe wools generally, id to Jd per lb higher.

The roster of New Zealand wool sales for the coming season is as follows: — November 2G, Auckland 9 a.m. December 2, Napier 9 a.m.; 7, Wellington 9 a..m.; 12, Christchurch 9 .a.m.; 16, Timaru 8 a.m.; 20, Dunedin 9 a.m. January 9, Wellington 9 a.m.; 14, Napier 9 a.m.; 19, Wanganui 9 a.m.; 24, Auckland 9 a.m.; 30, Christchurch 9 a.m. February 3, Invercargill 2 p.m.; 8, Dunedin 9 a.m.; 15, Wellington 9 a.m.; 20, Napier 9 a.m.; 24, Wanganui 2.30 p.m. March 3. Christchurch 9 a.m.; 7, Timaru 9 a.m.; 11, Invercargill 2.30 p.m.; 16, Dunedin 9 a.m.; 23, Wellington 9 a.m.; 27 Auckland 9 a.m.; 30, Wanganui 2.30 p.m. April 3, Napier 9 a.m.; 14, Christchurch 9 a.m.; 19, Dunedin 9 a.m.; 24, Wellington 9 a.m. Final sales are tentative only. Sales will be arranged as and when wool is available.
