FAREWELL PRESENTATIONS
TO MR AND MRS F. CLARKE. A pleasant little function took place at the premises of Donald and Sons. Ltd., Perry Street, Masterton, yesterday afternoon, when members of the staff gathered to bid farewell to Mr Fred Clarke, who is leaving Masterton to take up an appointment at Stratford. Mr Clarke was presented by his fellow workmates with a dinner waggon and a piece of china, accompanied by the best wishes of all for his future happiness and prosperity in his new sphere of activity. In expressing his thanks for their kindly gift Mr Clarke referred to the happy relationship which had always existed between his comrades and himself and assured them that he would always cherish pleasant memories of his association with them. This week the members of the Red Star Club met and made presentations to Mr and Mrs Clarke —a cigarette stand to Mr Clarke and a beautiful crystal bowl to Mrs Clarke who had been for years a valued worker in connection with the club’s socials. The presentations were made by Mr S. Brown, who with other speakers, referred to the splendid service Mr and Mrs Clarke had rendered the club over a long period. The speakers mentioned that the departure of Mr and Mrs Clarke from Masterton would be a serious loss to the Red Star Football Club as their home was always available for social functions and meetings, and both had been most energetic in advancing the interests of the club and sport generally. Mr Clarke suitably acknowledged the gifts.
