Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the* 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.43. Shade temperature: Maximum 67.2, minimum 42.6, terrestrial 34.1; sunshine, 8 hours 9 minutes. SOLWAY RAINFALL FIGURES FOR SEPTEMBER Mr H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 20 days in September. The maximum fall, 2.43 inches, on the 9th, and the minimum, 1 point, on the 7th and Bth. The total for the month was 6,37 inches, as against 3.99 (1937), 2.25 (1936), 6.35 (1935), 2.35 (1934), 2.44 (1933). The average for 35 years is 3.28 inches. The total rainfall for nine months is 37.99 inches, as compared with 27.09 (1937), 34.9 c (1936), 35,30 (1935), 29.84 (1934). 26.62 (1933). The average for 35 years is 30.29 inches. In September, 1905, 8.02 inches were measured for 22 days, and in 1935, 6.35 inches for 15 days.

General situation: A slight disturbance crossed the South Island last night but pressure is now high over the Dominion, an intense anticyclone being still centred to the north; over south-eastern Australia pressure remains low. Forecast: Light northerly winds, freshening gradually and tomorrow becoming strong; weather fine at first but later cloud increasing, especially in and west of the ranges and rain developing after about 24 hours; temperatures mild.
