SUICIDES IN ENGLAND
DEATH OF GENERAL DAWNAY LONDON, September 29. It was revealed at the inquest concerning the death of General Dawnay, Public Relations Officer, at the War Office that he committeed suicide by means of gas at his home on September 27. The Coroner found that his action was the result of insomnia, seemingly due to> pressure of work. A gardener in Suffolk committee suicide with a rifle. He had been worried for days over the international situation. , A German-speaking clerk at Brixton, after listening to Herr Hitler’s speech of September 12, declared, “Well, that means war.” He was later found gassed in his bedroom.
