The preservative produces no tanning effect whatsoever, hence hides which have been so treated can subsequently be tanned or dressed by the usual methods without any alteration of the tanning system used. This remark applies equally to vegetable, chrome, alum tanning, etc. Dried goods cured with this Preservative when green, and after storage for any period will, under any climatic conditions, work freely and similarly to fresh hides and skins through the fellmongering, depilating-and tanning processes; and during hot weather with entire freedom from putrefactive action.
