GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Members of the Te Wharau Golf Club played the final rounds of the golf championships during the weekend, also the finals for W. Kummer’s trophies, combined with the third round of the handicap cup. In the finals for the ladies’ championship Miss M. Taylor defeated Mrs Schofield and H. Paku defeated W. Kummer in the men’s championship. Mrs Schofield won W. Kummer’s trophy for the ladies and H. Winter won the trophy for the men. P. Kummer failed to withstand a challenge from S. Gray for the Nimmo Cup. who also defeated F. C. H. Cotter in a similar challenge. . During the week Mrs Schofield withstood two challenges for the Kummerstein Cup, from Mrs Read and Miss Vennell respectively. The next challenge for this cup is from Mrs McKinstry, and S. Gray defends a challenge from A. McGregor for the Nimmo Cup. As the season is drawing to a close it is desirable that as many challenges as possible should be played on off days. Over the weekend Mrs and Mr I. McGregor defeated Mrs Schofield and S. Gray in a match for the silver buttons. The next challenge is from Mrs and Mr A. McGregor. On October 2 the final round of the handicap cups will be played, the following being the draw: Ladies: —Mrs McKinstry v Mrs Schofield; Mrs Nitz v Mrs A. McGregor; Mrs Read v Miss Taylor; Miss M. Taylor v Miss Bannister; Miss Dickason v Mrs I. McGregor; Miss McGregor v Miss Vennell; Mrs Foreman v Mrs J. Bannister; Miss Buckeridge v Mrs Kummer. Men: Gray v A. McGregor; W. Kummer v N. Foreman; 11. Paku. v H. Winter; M. Paku v F. McKinstry; I. McGregor v E. Nitz; N. Kummer v F. C. H. Cotter; J. Bannister v R. McKinstry; R. Vennell v P. Kummer. Golf Ball. The annual golf ball which was postponed from September 10 will be held in the hall on Saturday evening next and all arrangements are well in hand for a pleasant and successful function. It is hoped that the weather will be fine on this occasion. Invitation holders and others are requested to note the alteration of the date, and to make amends for jhe postponement, the committee is making a special effort to ensure a pleasant and enjoyable evening for all. The music will be supplied by Barnes Rhythm Boys, the floor will be in first-class order and me supper will be up to the usual excellent- standard. *
