POSITION IN NEW ZEALAND. RECRUITING ON NORMAL LINES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Inquiries at army headquarters, Wellington, indicate that while all preparations to cope with an emergency arc well under way. no special steps at present are being taken in regard to recruiting or for enlistment of men for special service. It was stated that if an emergency arose any steps promptly would be taken but in the meantime recruiting was proceeding through normal channels. The opinion was expressed that the Nev/ Zealand defence forces were in a very satisfactory state of preparation and would be able to meet adequately any sudden call upon their organisation.
