ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
TONIGHT’S CONCERT The Masterton Orchestral Society is optimistic concerning subscribers and public support of their second concert to be held in the Opera House tonight. Under the conductorship of Mr J. Candy, the 40 instrumentalists in the orchestra have reached a high standard of concerted playing, and a delightful programme has been arranged, the scores representing such composers as Beethoven, Verdi, Percy Grainger, Mae Bruch, Lortzing, Chas. B. Hampson and Rimsky-Korsakov. Miss Edith Ralph will sing two brackets: “Recit et Air de Lia” (Debussy), “The Violet” (Mozart) and “A Song of Autumn”, and “The Shepherd’s Song,” by Elgar.
